SPORTS BRIEFS: FINA coaching course

KATHMANDU, Sept 15: Nepal Swimming Association is organizing a five-day long FINA Swimming Coaches Clinic from Sunday under the technical support of International Swimming Federation (FINA).



The clinic will be conducted on the premises of Satdobato swimming pool. [break]



Altogether 48 participants, including five women, will participate in the clinic from districts and schools across the nation. The clinic will be conducted by Indian coach Pradip Kumar. The main aim of the clinic is to produce qualified manpower needed for the development of swimming in the country.



Police A, B triumph


NEPALGUNJ: Both A and B teams of Nepal Police Club (NPC) and Mid Western Region stole the show on Thursday during the First National Men’s Beach Volleyball being held in Gaurighat of Sitapur. NPC B saw off APF B 21-19, 21-11 and Central Region B 21-12, 21-18. NPC A edged past Central Region A 21-18, 21-12.



Mid Western Region A saw off PLA Sports Club of Maoist combatants 21-16, 22-20. Eastern Region B saw off Far Western B 21-16, 23-25, 15-9 in the competitive match. Mid Western Region B beat Eastern Region A 21-14, 21-16. PLA Sports Club beat Eastern Region B 21-13, 21-12. APF B saw off Western Region 21-13, 21-14 and APF A downed Central Region A 21-14, 21-14.
