SPORTS BRIEFS: AFC C coaching course begins

KATHMANDU, May 10: On the occasion of AFC Festival of Football, AFC C Certificate Coaching Course began Thursday at ANFA Office Satdobato, Lalitpur. The coaching course participated by 18 young coaches from five South Asian countries will conclude May 23. Two coaches each from Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Bhutan, one from India and 11 from Nepal are participating in the two-week course. [break]The coaching is being conducted by AFC coaching instructor Vaithilingam Subramaniam of Singapore and assistant instructor Choki Nima of Bhutan. The coaches will be given theoretical and practical knowledge about coaching during the session.



Dhankuta tundikhel leased to ANFA


DHANKUTA: The tundikhel of Dhankuta will be leased to the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) for 25 years after the latter decided to run the goal project in the district. An all-party meeting of political parties and representatives of Dhankuta Municipality and Dhankuta District Football Association held on Wednesday took a decision to this effect. The district football association will expand the ground, level the surface, make new parapets, said Shambhu Pradhan, the president of Dhankuta District Football Association.



Shrestha donates sports kits to school


DOLAKHA: Binod Shrestha, who is currently pursuing his master’s degree in engineering in Sweden, has donated sports kits to a school in his home district of Dolakha. Shrestha, who hails from Bhimeshwar Municipality, Charikot, donated six footballs, 14 jersey sets and six water bottles to Bhim Higher Secondary School. According to Shrestha, he took the initiative to avail the sports kits from his workplace.
