Weightlifting team leaves for Thailand Friday
KATHMANDU: A-five member Nepali weightlifting team including four players will leave for Sisaket, Thailand to participate in the EGAT King Cup International Weightlifting Championship to be held there from May 6 to 9. Nepal Army weightlifter Kamal Bahadur Adhikar will compete in 77 kg and Bipendra Maharjan in 105 kg under men´s section.
Similarly, Nepal Police Club´s Taradevi Pun will compete in 75 kg and Uttam Khatri in 58 kg under the women´s section. Sanjay Maharjan is the leader and coach of Nepali team. National Sports Council Member Secretary Yubaraj Lama bade farewell to the team amidst a function on Thursday. [break]
Coca-Cola ties up with Everest Marathon
KATHMANDU: Coca-Cola Nepal has partnered with Tenzing HIllary Everest Marathon with the aim of creating a cleaner and healthier surrounding around Everest Region. This is the sixth time that Coca-Cola has joined hands for cleanliness of the area. The initiative aims to collect and recycle plastic waste to create a cleaner and healthier environment along with encouraging people of Nepal on plastic waste contamination and recycling benefits. The Everest Marathon, the highest altitude marathon is held each year on May 29 since 2008 to commemorate the first ever ascent of Everest by Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary on May 29, 1953.
