Khadka, Adhikari nominated in NSJF
KATHMANDU, July 20: Nepal Sports Journalist Forum (NSJF) has nominated journalist Ayush Khadka and Nirmal Adhikari as central committee members. NSJF had already nominated two members earlier. Now the working committee of NSJF includes 15 members.
The NSJF meeting held on Monday under the chairmanship of President Niranjan Rajbanshi also formed six sub-committees -- sports journalism training department under the coordination of Himesh Bajracharya, membership distribution and district coordination under secretary Mahesh Acharya, finance department under spokesperson and treasurer Prakash Timilsina, foreign department under member Devendra Subedi and discipline committee under vice president Sanjeev Silpakar.
Taekwondo players selected for preliminary stage
KATHMANDU, July 20: Nepal Taekwondo Association (NTA) on Tuesday selected 24 players in the preliminary stage for the 16th Asian Games (Asiad) to be held in Guangzhou, China.
The players were selected from six weight categories in both men´s and women´s sections. One hundred and fifteen men and 45 women players contested in the two-day selection tournament held at the Dasharath Stadium covered hall. The selected players are the winners and the runners-up from each weight categories.
NTA is yet to select one player from each weight category. The third best player among the two will be selected later by the selection committee, stated NTA. Apart from the selected players, all medal winners of the 11th South Asian Games have been selected for the second round.
Altogether, 12 players will be selected for the Guangzhou Asiad from each weight category.
