The NPC defeated Birta Youth Club 1-0 in the semifinal to pit against the APF who had beaten Ranipokhari Corner Team 2-1 to enter the final.[break]
The NPC have a majority of national footballers while the APF have young players in their team. The winners will bag a purse of Rs 100,000 while the runners-up will receive Rs 15,000.
Gurung to train bodybuilders in Hong Kong
Former Mister Nepal Sanu Gurung is all set to visit Hong Kong to teach bodybuilding poses to the participants of ´Mister Hong Kong Nepal 2010´. Gurung leaves Kathmandu on Saturday for Hong Kong. The bodybuilding competition will be held on December 12. Gurung had won the award of the best poser in the last edition of the competition.
Nepal Bodybuilding Association stating that he ducked the doping test during the Mister Hong Kong bodybuilding competition last year had allegedly banned Gurung from participating in different bodybuilding competitions.
"After I filed a petition at National Sports Council, the association has written to the council that they have never banned me," said Gurung. "I´m happy to be a part of the Hong Kong event at a time when some people are plotting to damage my career," added Gurung.
Rato Bangala beat Rupy´s
The hosts Rato Bangala began their contest with a winning note during the Inter-college A-level Boys Basketball Tournament that kicked off on Friday. Rato Bangala registered a hard fought 34-31 victory over Rupy´s International at their home court. Prabir Maharjan scored 13 points for the winning team. Malpi and Kist also made victorious starts in the tournament organized by Rato Bangala A-level Club. Malpi beat Ullens 36-26 with the help of 17 points from Norbu Lama. Shanker Nepali contributed 8 points for Ullens. Kist thrashed British School 51-20. Nischal Sodimba scored 12 points for Kist. Eight teams are participating in the tournament which will conclude on Tuesday.
NIMS enters basketball final
Defending champions NIMS school entered the final of the Second Teresa Inter-school Basketball Tournament in the junior girls´ category on Friday. NIMS thrashed Kantipur School 39-17 to book the final berth. Bina Nakarmi of the winning squad contributed 11 points. In the junior boys´ category, defending champions Unique School, Wilson Academy, Deneb and the hosts Teresa Academy advanced to the semifinals. Unique ended the challenge of Skylark 32-18. Wilson beat Lyceum 38-14 where Sunil Khatri scored 18 points for the winner. Likewise, Deneb nailed New Shrine 16-2 with six points from Ashim Pandey. Teresa saw off Reliance 23-18. Teresa´s Sudip Thapa Magar accumulated 21 points. Unique will face Teresa while Wilson will take on Deneb in the semifinals.
