NT´s cash card includes easy-call card, recharge card for GSM and CDMA services. These cards are available from Rs 100 to Rs 1,000.
NT has 166 wholesalers in Kathmandu, 41 in Pokhara, 40 in Birgunj, 75 in Bhairahawa, 40 in Birgunj and 26 in Dhangadi. [break]
NT provides 3.25 percent commission to wholesalers for every cash card. Keeping aside the commission of retailers, this entitles the wholesaler a profit of 1 percent. Similarly, Dipendra Sharaff of All Recharge Centre in Birgunj sold cash card worth Rs 462 million. Attari Traders of Nepalgunj was top wholesaler of mid-western region, which sold cash card of Rs 525.5 million.
Other top wholesalers include Sabita Enterprise from Pokhara, Rodan Traders of Dhangadi and Bhairav Photo and Multi-service of Bhairahawa. They sold cash cards amounting to Rs 287.6 million, Rs 273.5 million and Rs 747.2 million respectively.
Speaking at the ceremony, managing director of NT Amar Nath Singh announced special offers focusing on data. Under the new offers, subscribers can get 3G prepaid SIM card at Rs 300 including talk time or data usage worth Rs 100. The existing subscription charge of 3G Prepaid SIM card is Rs 1,500 and new scheme will be valid from February 13, 2012.
Likewise, the subscription charge of Evolution-Data Optimized (EVDO) under CDMA has been reduced to Rs 300 from existing charge of Rs 2,500.
Volume-base ADSL users are also getting 2 GB per month extra on the package of 3 GB, and 4 GB extra on the package of 6 GB.
The tariff for downloading Caller Ring Back Tone (CRBT) is now Re 1 per minute from Rs 3 earlier.
Under the new offer, subscribers willing to have fixed line or CDMA post-paid fixed service, will just have to maintain a deposit of Rs 750. The minimum deposit as fixed by NT was earlier Rs 1,500. The installation charge for fixed line and CDMA has been waived for next three months.
Newly-appointed secretary of Ministry of Information and Communications (MoIC) Avanindra Kumar Shrestha said problem in procurement is because of attempts to procure poor quality equipments. “I am confident that there would be no problems in procurement process if we focus on better quality,” Shrestha who headed the office of Public Procurement Monitoring said.
Customer base of NT till mid-January has crossed 7.36 million. The operator earned a profit of Rs 12.12 billion after deducting income tax in last fiscal year, an increment of 12.46 percent compared to previous fiscal year.
