Special committee for monitoring enforcement of PM´s commitments

KATHMANDU, Jan 20: The parliamentary meeting on Monday formed a 11-member committee to monitor implementation of the commitments made by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal over Nepali Congress´ 9-point demand. The committee includes Nepali Congress lawmaker Jagadish Narsingh KC, Jitendra Sonal (TMDP), Pratibha Rana (RPP), Barsha Man Pun (Maoist), Bal Krishna Khand (NC), Bhim Raj Choudhari Raj Banshi (MPRF), Lila Nyaichyai (NWPP), Shankhar Pokharel (UML), Bishnu Prasad Choudhari Tharu (Maoist), Sarbadev Prasad Ojha (MPRF) and Harka Bahadur Singh (UML). The members will select their coordinator from among them.



The committee will monitor the process of returning private and government property captured by the Maoists and its sister wings during the conflict and its aftermath. It will monitor the state of implementation of the government orders for returning property to the concerned people. It will also monitor the actions taken for ending paramilitary structure of the YCL. The committee will also monitor whether the owners get compensation for the peoperty not returned until mid-December, as committed by Prime Minister to seven parties in July and before the House in November. The committee members will make field visits, if necessary, to find whether the PM´s commitments are fully implemented.
