Talking to reporters upon arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport, Speaker Nembang said during the visit he held serious discussions on matters relating to federalism with the Canadian Speaker, Law Minister and experts of federalism.[break]
Matters relating to the federal structure, relations between central government and provinces, and resolving the disputes relating to language were also discussed, he said.
Stating that meetings were also held with the non-resident Nepalis there, Speaker Nembang said the NRNs expressed concern over the current political and financial situation of Nepal.
Responding to a query from journalists on the occasion, Mr Nembang said the Speaker does not have any special powers to stop the ongoing process of elections for the new Prime Minister and added that the matter should be resolved through the constitution, existing acts and regulations, and on the basis of past experience.
He also said that the political parties should not further lengthen the constitution writing and peace process considering the concern of the people in general.
The Speaker said discussion will be held with Finance Ministry officials this afternoon and the process shall be initiated to bring the budget based on consensus among the political parties.
General Secretary of Legislature-Parliament, Manohar Prasad Bhattarai, who was part of the delegation led by Speaker Nembang, also returned today.
Speaker Nembang had left for Canada on October 16.
