He called on CPN-UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal at the latter´s residence on Sunday.[break]
Nembang said he met leaders at their residences after seeing no progress in the twin tasks.
"Political party leaders have already made it clear that the tasks of constitution writing can´t make headway without first resolving the contentious issues of the peace process," said Nembang. "I held meetings with the leaders upon seeing that they didn´t hold any talks during Dashain holidays."
He urged the former prime minister Khanal to take serious initiatives for advancing the twin task. Nembang said he got positive response from Khanal.
On Saturday, Nembang had called on Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai and UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and drew their attention toward the fast-approaching deadline of Constituent Assembly (CA), which expires on November 30.
He said he will meet Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala for the same reason. "While the deadline is fast approaching, we have yet to accomplish lots of work in connection with preparing the first draft of the new constitution," Nembang said.
Work at the subcommittee formed under the CA´s Constitutional Committee to settle disputes in statute drafting has been halted after the non-Maoist parties demanded that the thorny issues of peace process must be resolved first before advancing the task of constitution writing.
