KATHMANDU, April 16: Speaker of House of Representatives, Krishna Bahadur Mahara met with United Nation’s assistant general secretary, Miroslav Jenca at the parliamentary secretariat, Singhadurbar.
During the meeting, Jenca congratulated Nepal for its commitments and works to achieve sustainable development goals while highlighting the UN’s role in Nepal’s development. She added that the UN was always willing to collaborate with Nepal for development.
Meanwhile, Mahara shared that post elections, the government was implementing federal practices and building laws and acts to suit and strengthen Nepal’s system. He added that the ensuring development and economic prosperity was where the government’s focus would lie for the next five years.
“I would like to congratulate the United Nations for its role in Nepal’s peace process,” Mahara said, “We’ve almost completed major tasks of the peace process. Now, we are heading towards peace and development.”
