In the meeting held at the Rastrapati Bhawan, Speaker Nembang apprised the President about the progress in constitution writing and the efforts at and difficulties encountered in government formation.[break]
On the occasion, President Dr. Yadav expressed concern over the political deadlock due the delay in government formation, and said that there is no alternative to collaboration among the parties for ending the present situation.
Speaker Nembang informed journalists after the meeting with the President that the Head of the State expressed concern and worries over the political impasse owing to the delay in government formation and that there was no alternative to the parties working together to find a way out of the stalemate.
The Speaker expressed the view that the Constituent Assembly members should not stay neutral or abstain from voting in the prime ministerial election but should instead vote to give a new prime minister to the country, and if that cannot happen, they should give the new basis of electing the prime minister even by amending the Constitution and the regulation after the withdrawal of the candidacy.
He said the right to take decision on finding a political way out of the stalemate lies entirely in the hands of the political parties and reiterated that it was not time for him to exercise his prerogative rights in the present stage of the prime ministerial election.
