Sanokaji Maharjan would throw love notes to Rupa Bista (Maharjan) to express his feelings. Now, the couple has been married for 27 years. However, the first three years of their marriage wasn’t easy. Maharjan’s family didn’t approve of the inter-caste marriage, and the groom lacked work skills. The hardship compelled the couple to move to Maharjan’s birthplace. Their situation gradually improved. Maharjan is now a skilled wood craftsman, and Bista has her tailoring station adjacent to her husband’s workshop. Looking back at their tough times, Bista stated, “No matter what the circumstances, we never quarreled. We’ve been blessed with happiness, and we aim to live happily until the very end.”
