Dr Soniya Hirachan has been appointed as the CEO of Minnesota State Forensic Psychiatric Hospital in the USA. She is apparently the first Nepali woman to be appointed to the position of CEO in such organizations abroad.
Hirachan is an adult psychiatrist practicing in Minnesota, serving New Prague and surrounding areas. She specializes in the assessment and treatment of adults with a variety of psychiatric and mental health conditions including depression such as bipolar disorder (manic depression), anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), dissociative disorders, schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders, substance use disorders, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and personality disorders.
She received her medical degree from Kasturba Medical College Manipal and has been in practice for eight (11-20) years. She is certified by the Forensic Psychiatry, American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology, Inc.
Hriachan did her schooling from Budhanilkantha School, Kathmandu, Nepal. She did her Master’s degree in the Department of Psychiatry at University of Minnesota. She worked as a Fellow in Forensic Psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh from July 2013 to June 2014.
Hirachan also worked as a Forensic Psychiatrist at Minnesota Department of Human Services and as a Resident Physician at DC Department of Behavioral Health.
