According to him, the police have remained equally alert to the possibility that misinformation, disinformation, deepfakes and hate speech on social media could disrupt cordial relations among citizens and have deployed personnel accordingly.

Regarding collaboration, cooperation and coordination with the three tiers of government and other security agencies, IGP Karki said, “There is regular contact and coordination among the Nepali Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, National Investigation Department and concerned ministries, including the Ministry of Home Affairs, when it comes to maintaining law and order and peace in society.

“In special situations, we discuss matters among all agencies and develop security strategies accordingly. Overall, coordinated deployment of all mechanisms has been key to maintaining normal security arrangements.”

He said Nepal Police will continue to carry out operations in the coming days in coordination with other security agencies, with the understanding that all mechanisms should work to strengthen peace and security and provide relief and facilitate services to citizens, in line with the Prime Minister’s guidance.
