In pictures: Snowfall delights farmers but brings daily life to a standstill

KATHMANDU, Jan 23: Mountain regions of the country have witnessed heavy snowfall after a change in weather by westerly disturbance. In the hilly regions, temperatures have dipped and there has been normal to light drizzle.

Heavy snowfall across the hilly and mountain regions has affected daily lives of people, especially children and the elderly who struggle to keep themselves warm. In Mustang, roads have been obstructed.

However, farmers in the mountainous regions have been delighted as snowfall brings moisture to winter crops. Dunai, the headquarters of Dolpa, has witnessed sufficient amount of snowfall and brought happiness among the locals of the district.  

Good snowfall means 'yarshagumba' caterpillar fungus and other valuable herbs can grow more in the upcoming season.  Likewise, highlands of Okhaldhunga also are witnessing snowfall.
