They are currently under custody at the Area Forest Office, Belbari. The accused were arrested by the Area Police Office, Letang along with 54 cubic feet of timber, police said. Niroula, however, told the chief of the Area Forest Office, Belbari, Ashok Jha that he was transporting the timber following verbal approval of the Ranger. We have lately increased patrolling following reports of widespread smuggling of timber from various community forests in Morang district, said Police Inspector Bhupendra Karki at the Area Police Office, Belbari. The Area Forest Office Chief Jha said action as per the law would be taken against the timber smugglers and the official patronizing the timber smugglers.
