"Why should we not smile?" questioned Mohit Agrawal, one of the hundreds of participants of 3rd "Apex Smile Festival 2015". True enough. After all, the intra-college annual event was organized to promote smile and cheerfulness amid stressful times.With the theme "Let's bring back Smile", Apex Media Club of the college, which is located at Old-Baneshwar, successfully organized the festival on Sunday at Apex premises from 11am to 8pm. The festival was inaugurated by Anuradha Koirala, founder of Maiti Nepal.
"One smile can positively influence the atmosphere. Hence, it should be established as a culture and a daily part of our lives," added Agrawal. And the festival aims to do just the same -- spread smiles.
Shishir Chalise, president of the organizing club, said the festival is even more significant, especially after the catastrophic earthquake that wiped out the smiles from many faces.
Special attractions of the event were photo exhibition, food stalls, face painting, games, acoustic eve, and cultural programs. The event also exhibited top 50 out of 200 photos submitted by students based on the theme 'Smile'. The top three photos were selected by a team of expert photo journalists.
Additionally, there was separate a section of photographs related to the recent earthquake.
"Spreading smile, knowing the essence of smile both in and outside the college was the main vision behind smile event," said Pratigya Adhikari, the event coordinator and faculty member of the college.
The event was visited by around 2,000 people, according to Chalise.
