The office has set up 1,862 exam centers across the country. The centers will be supervised by an equal number of superintendents and 2,440 assistant superintendents.
Similarly, 2,314 invigilators, 7,699 peons and 27,930 security personnel would be deployed to conduct the exams successfully, said examinations controller Bishnu Bahadur Dware.
With just a week remaining for the board exam, the question papers have reached all 75 district police offices across the country, Dware added.
To curb the irregularities during the examinations, the OCE has made it mandatory for examinees to write symbol number on question paper.
“If the question paper is leaked, the examinee with the symbol number mentioned in the paper will face action,” explained Dware.
Despite the office's claim to have peacefully carried out the exam last year, cases of irregularities were reported in many districts, especially in core eight districts of the central Tarai.
The districts such as Sarlahi, Mohattari, Dhanusha, Bara, Parsa, Rautahat, Siraha and Saptari are on OCE's priority. More than 500 invigilators and students were expelled in these districts in the SLC examinations held last year.
In Dhanusha, two examinees were injured when security personnel opened fire to control the situation after the mob demanded that students be allowed to cheat during the Science examinations.
For the first time, the technical subject examinees will receive their results under the new grading system. As many as 3,288 students of technical subjects are appearing in the SLC examinations. Of them, 2,037 are boys and 1,251 girls. However, more girls are appearing in the SLC exams this year. The number of girl students appearing in SLC this year is 213,710, while the number of boys is 212,504.
The overall increment in examinees is also a result of improved enrollment rate and the progress in retaining students, officials say.
In 2011, 454,022 examinees had appeared in the SLC exams. The number went up to 528,257 in 2012. A total of 547,165 appeared in the SLC exams in 2013 and 566,085 last year.
