JANAKPUR, April 25: Samyukta Janatantrik Tarai Mukti Morcha (SJTMM), an armed group operating in Tarai districts, has said the group is preparing to go back underground alleging apathy in implementing the agreements reached between the government and the group four months ago.

Sanjay Kumar Gupta a.k.a. Kautilya, who had headed the SJTMM team during the talks with the government, claimed that the group is preparing to go underground as the government side violated the agreement.

He said, as agreed, the government failed to release the group’s members serving jail terms, provide security to the talks team, and to behave politically with the group’s leaders and cadres, among other promises.

“We believe that the government has already broken the agreement. We will go underground from April 29 if the government does not review the situation before that,” said Gupta, who is also the spokesperson of SJTMM.
