KATHMANDU, Sept 21: A six-point agreement has been inked among the government, contractor and the concerned authorities to accelerate the upgrade and expansion of the Nagdhunga-Naubise-Malekhu-Mugling road.

An all-side meeting convened at the Ministry of Physical Infrastructures and Transport on Friday reached the agreement.

The widening and upgrading of the 94.7-km road that is an important trade and transit route for linking Kathmandu Valley with the Terai region had been slowed down owing to various factors.

Towards this, the all-side meeting agreed to give an impetus to the road project being funded by the World Bank.

Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Devendra Dahal took initiatives for the meeting in a bid to address the problems and challenges facing the Project.

Present in the meeting were Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development Ramnath Adhikari, House of Representatives member Rajendra Pandey, Bagmati Province's former chief minister Shalikram Jamakattel, Bagmati Province's Minister Madhu Kumar Shrestha and people's representatives of the project site.
