Six killed in accidents

KATHMANDU, July 18: Six persons were killed in separate accidents in Kathmandu and Kanchanpur on Saturday and Sunday.



A person was killed when a motorcycle hit a bicycle at Bishnumati Link Road at Dallu on Saturday night.



The deceased has been identified as 21-year-old Krishna Bhujel, a resident of Sindhuli who was currently living at Sitapaila. He died while being treated at Bir Hospital.



Motorcyclist Nilet Maharjan was also injured in the accident and he is being treated at Bir Hospital.



Meanwhile, 27-year-old Chhatra Ghale was killed when a taxi knocked him down at Thulo Bharyang near Swayambhu on Saturday night. Police said they have impounded the taxi but the driver is absconding.



Likewise, two persons died while digging a well at Sitapaila in Sunday. The deceased have been identified as Jhappu Bhujel (45) of Sindhuli and Palunge Kanchha (46) of Makawanpur. Bhujel and Kanchha were severely injured when a mound of earth fell upon them while digging the well and died at Chhauni-based Army Hospital.



Meanwhile, a child drowned in a pond at Dekhatbhuli-9, Kanchanpur, on Saturday. Police said Abhishek Chaudhary suddenly fell into the pool while he was playing near it.



Meanwhile, Sanju Bista (3) of Jhalari-9 fell into a ditch and died.
