Six injured in lightning

BHAKTAPUR, Feb 17: Six people including some students were injured by lightning in Bhaktapur on Saturday afternoon.

BHAKTAPUR, Feb 17: Six people including some students were injured by lightning in Bhaktapur on Saturday afternoon.


Metropolitan Police Circle, Bhaktapur, informed Republica that the lightening that struck at 2 pm injured students and staffers of Tribhuvan University, who had come to Gyamphedada of Suryabinayak Municipality-7 for picnic.

“The injured have been taken to Iwamura Memorial Hospital at Sallaghari,” said the Information Officer at the police circle, Rewatimaran Pokharel. “Fortunately, all of them are out of danger.”


The injured have been identified as Ravi Pandey, 25, Morang; Jeevan Bhandari, 25, of Kailali; Kamal Pandey, 24, of Suyangjaa and Satendra Gupta, 25, of Nawalparasi. Likewise, gardener of the Kirtipur-based university Lalit Gurung, 57, and 29-year old canteen staffer Sita Khadka were also injured in the incident.
