PALPA, July 25: Six people died while 16 were injured when a passenger bus (Lu 1 B 5952) met with an accident in Ribdikot-2, Laghuwa, Palpa.
According to the District Police Office, Palpa, the deceased have been identified as 15-year-old Pravesh Kafle of Chandrakot Rural Municipality-8, Gulmi District and 40-year-old Lal Bahadur Rana Kumal of Musikot Municipality-7; Dilsari Kami, 87, of Devdaha Municipality-7, Rupandehi; Yagya Bahadur Somai, 45, of Kapilvastu Wanganga Municipality-2; Purnima Kami, 24, of Nawalparasi Bardaghat Municipality-5; and Yamakali Thapa, 55, of Baglung Bodyguard Rural Municipality-10.
Seven dead in Palpa bus accident
The bus accident took place at Laghuwa on the Tansen-Tamghas road section at 4:35PM on Sunday. The bus going from Burtiwang to Butwal via Palpa fell almost 100 meters down a cliff in Laghuwa. Deputy Superintendent of Police of District Police Office, Palpa, Birendra Thapa said that six people died on the spot in the accident. He said that the actual cause beind the accident has not been revealed yet. Thapa said that accidents like this happen every year as the road is downhill and narrow.
Similarly, according to Kisan Shrisa, the driver of the bus, the motorcycle which was going downhill from Harthok came in the wrong direction and while letting it pass, the bus slipped and the accident took place. The bus driver has an injury in his leg and is in normal condition. Local residents said that the road was slippery due to rain in the accident area from Sunday morning to 2 in the afternoon.
