Sitorio Karate disobeys NSC directives

KATHMANDU, July 29:  Sitorio Karate Association did not conduct the internal selection of players on Thursday for the 16th Asian Games as per the directives of the National Sports Council (NSC).



The NSC on Wednesday had directed the four associations affiliated to the Nepal Karate Federations (NKF), namely sitorio, gozurio, badokai and shotokan, to carry out internal selection in the wake of a dispute that ensued after the NKF allegedly tried to pick up a handful of players for Asiad. But sitario karate players returned home Thursday evening after the association remained silent on the issue. [break]



Sitario katare´s president and NKF general secretary Kedarbabu Shiwakoti said the decision regarding selection process will be taken only after the federation´s meeting on Friday.



Meanwhile, shotokan karate selected four men and three women players and forwarded their names for national selection. The selected players are Sonam Sherpa (55 kg), Sanjay Tamang (60 kg), Diwas Shrestha (67 kg), Kumar manandhar (75 kg) in men´s category and Renuka Pandey (50 kg), Sita Shrestha (55 kg) and Mamita Shrestha (60 kg) in women´s category.



Gozurio´s selection will be held on Friday according to osokai karate´s coach Om Prasai. Gozurio will include players of osokai and kenwakai karate in the selection and the winners will compete in the national selection representing gozurio.
