POKHARA, Dec 1: Sikles Hydropower Project has started generating electricity.

The project, which was started three years ago by the KC Construction Group, has started pilot production with a capacity of generating 13 megawatt electricity.

The electricity generated from the power plant is connected to the national transmission line, said Kiran KC, managing director of the project. The project was carried out at the cost of 2.05 billion rupees.

Waters collected at the Madque river dam passes through a 3 kilometer-long tunnel to the turbine house for generating electricity. The generated electricity is connected to the sub-station of Budhibazaar located at Pokhara-Lekhnath Metropolitan City through the 132 KV transmission line.

The project built on the "Run-of-the river" technology has signed an agreement with Nepal Electricity Authority to trade in electricity for Rs 7 per unit during the winter and Rs 4 per unit during the monsoon said KC.
