The metropolis in cooperation with the traffic police has prohibited parking in the Durbar Marg area from January 3. Entrepreneurs have complained that the flow of customers has decreased leading to a decrease in business in the Durbar Marg area since the parking ban was enforced.
The Durbar Marg Development Board (DMDB) Secretary Yagyaraj Pandey said that they are going to show a symbolic protest to KMC by closing the shutters in protest against parking prohibition. Under the leadership of DMDB, the businessmen/traders of the area have been protesting for immediate parking arrangements in the Durbar Marg area.
According to the Board, the five-lane Durbar Marg was left with a two-way/two-lane road and parking was kept in one lane on one side. According to the entrepreneur's plan, free parking was arranged initially, but later KMC was collecting parking fees from the vehicle owners.
