KATHMANDU, April 28: Rajendra Prasad Shrestha has been appointed as the acting chairman of the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Nepal, following the departure of party Chairman, Deputy Prime Minister, and Health and Population Minister Upendra Yadav for the United States.
The announcement was made by Purna Basnet, the Head of the Party's Publicity and Publication Department. Basnet said that Shrestha, a Central Executive Committee member, would assume the role of acting chairman during Yadav's absence.

Chairman Yadav departed for the United States on Saturday evening to attend the World Population Conference at the United Nations Secretariat in New York, scheduled from April 30 to May 3. Basnet added that Yadav is expected to return home on May 7.
