Shree Airlines starts Kathmandu-Surkhet regular flight

KATHMANDU, Dec 2: Shree Airlines has started Kathmandu-Surkhet regular flight from Friday. The company, which has planned one flight per day, said that the one-way fare for this destination is Rs 6,600.

Gyanendra Bhul, information officer of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), said that the company has started regular flights to this destination and the locals of Karnali province have benefited.

“Only Buddha Air was flying to this destination. Now the competition started with the flight of Shree Airlines and it is seen to reduce the fares. Because of this, the passengers are going to be benefited," said information officer Bhul.

According to him, the one-way fare for this destination was Rs 8,000. He said that earlier passengers used to go to Nepalgunj to get flight services, now the environment has changed to take flight services from Surkhet.

He also mentioned that, on Friday, the company's 9N-ANR callsign was carrying out regular commercial flights using Bombardier's Q-400 'Turboprop' aircraft. He said there were 72 passengers on the Kathmandu-Surkhet flight and 65 passengers on the Surkhet-Kathmandu flight.

Surkhet Airport, which was put into operation in 1966, has a runway length of 4,200 feet. From the year 2018, the private airline company Buddha Airlines started flying to this airport with Beechcraft and ATR-42 series aircraft.

From December 22, 2022, Buddha Airlines also started flying to this destination through ATR 72 series aircraft.
