KATHMANDU, Nov 28: Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal said on Saturday that the country will see in a couple of months whether the regressive or the forward-looking forces win the battle. Dahal also called on all the forward-looking forces to unite in a battle against forces that now stand united for the status quo.

“Whether regressive or progressive forces prevail will be settled in a few months,” said Dahal while addressing a function organized by university teachers close to the UCPN (Maoist).

The Maoist chairman argued that an “organized conspiracy” is being hatched by the “scum of the past” and warned that if they prevail, the country would face the risk of counter-revolution. “All the people should be united for at least one year that will be a decisive turn in the country´s history,” he said.

The formal rebel leader called on the university professors to garner public support in favor of progressive forces. He claimed that the progressive forces will prevail because of the rising level of awareness among the people.

“There is a public awareness in favor of change,” he said, “What was thought to be impossible a few years back has already become possible.”

He said that regressive forces in the country and outside have become fearful. “Not only the ruling class in the country but conservatives and exploiters around the world have become worried by the revolutionary forces in Nepal,” he said.
