BARDIYA, March 5: The newly-constructed temple of Lord Shiva in Laxmana of Bansgadhi Municipality in Bardiya district has been officially inaugurated on Monday on the occasion of Mahashivaratri.

According to Ram Gopal Chaudhary, chairperson of Bisheshwar Mahadev Temple Committee, late Hemraj Gyawali, the founding chairman of Nepal Republic Media, had laid the foundation stone of the temple two years ago. There are various myths associated with the temple. It is believed that the temple has the unprecedented power of showering water at the time of drought.
The wooden carved windows and doors have added to the beauty of the temple. A total budget of Rs 5.3 million was spent on the temple. As per the details provided by the committee, Binodraj Gyawali, the son of late Hemraj Gyawali who hails from Bardiya, invested Rs 4 million while Tourism Board invested Rs 1 million on the temple. Similarly, locals donated Rs 300,000 for the temple.
