Sharma, Rana confirmed as ambassadors to US, India

KATHMANDU, Aug 20 : The Parliamentary Public Hearing Committee on Thursday unanimously confirmed the nominations of Rukma Shumsher Rana and Dr Shankar Sharma as Nepal´s ambassadors to India and the United States respectively. Rana is former president of the Nepal India Chamber of Commerce and Industry.



Son of a founder leader of Nepali Congress Subarna Shamsher Rana, he has served as chairman of the Nepal Olympic Committee and as the member secretary of Nepal Sports Council.



Sharma is former vice-chairman of National Planning Commission (NPC). Before being appointed as the NPC member, Sharma served as chief financial advisor of the Ministry of Finance. Sharma, who did his PhD in economics from the University of Hawaii, US also worked as lecturer in a university in Singapore.



No complaints have been filed against either of the candidates.
