Seven arrested over girl trafficking

KATHMANDU, April 5: Police arrested seven persons involved in a girl trafficking to Syria luring her lucrative jobs in Dubai-based beauty parlor.

Acting on complaint filed by the girl who was sold in Syria, Central Bureau of Investigation rounded up Kedar Bahadur Khadka alias Ashish along with his six accomplices. The girl accused Khadka and gang for luring her with a lucrative job in Dubai. She was sold for US Dollars 7000 in Syria as a domestic worker, the police said.She was bound to work for around 18-20 hours every day as a domestic worker in a house and was even restricted to make phone calls to her family back in Nepal.

She was informed that she was sold for US Dollars 7000 when she asked for salary.

However, she got lucky one day to dupe her owners to make a phone call to family members in Nepal. She was later rescued by Ministry of Foreign Affairs in coordination with Syria Police.
