KATHMANDU, Aug 9: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) is closely monitoring the situation following the prisoner clash at Dhangadhi Prison in Kailali, taking meticulous steps to stabilise the circumstances, according to MoHA officials.
The clash on Friday night resulted in one death and 47 injuries. In response, Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak convened a meeting on Saturday with the Home Secretary and the heads of three security agencies to receive a comprehensive briefing on the incident and discuss measures to ease tensions.

During the meeting, it was decided that one seriously injured patient currently receiving treatment at Seti Provincial Hospital will be transferred to Kathmandu for further medical care. To facilitate this, the MoHA has deployed the Nepal Army’s Sky Truck from Surkhet to Dhangadhi, MoHA Spokesperson Anand Kafle stated.
“Nepal Police and Armed Police Force will tighten security arrangements to ensure full protection of the prison and prevent any further unfortunate incidents,” said Kafle. “Arrangements have also been made for the treatment of the other injured individuals.”
The meeting also covered discussions on strengthening internal security within the prison.
