SYANGJA, May 21: It sounds strange to hear that a septuagenarian has been living a jungle life in this 21st century.

Grandfather of 12, Dilli Ram Upadhyaya of Wangsing-8, Syangja, has been living in the jungle since 70 years, rearing cattle.

When he left for Patalakharka jungle, some 500 meters away from his house, he was merely 7 years old.

Uapadhyaya has been continuously living in the jungle since then, looking after 10 buffalos.

There is a buffalo-shed where he lights fire to keep himself warm at night and ward off jungle beasts.

The buffaloes are trained in such a way that they go out of the shed in the morning to graze and return in the evening for shelter.

The reason behind living all these years in the jungle is worth-sharing. He makes Rs 200,000 per annum by selling milk and ghee.

With the income, he sent his three sons and one daughter to school and married them off.
