JANAKPURDHAM, Aug 8: Dhanusha police have arrested a man who had been absconding for 16 years, after the Supreme Court convicted him and sentenced him to life imprisonment on charges related to murder.
Dhanusha police Spokesperson Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ranjan Awa said that Pawan Mahato, 56, of Dhanusha Sabaila Municipality-13, was arrested.

According to DSP Awa, Mahato, who had been absconding since 2009 after killing Nagendra Yadav by shooting, was sentenced to life by the Supreme Court on November 24, 2023.
Similarly, police arrested Mahato from Sabaila Bazar in Sabaila Municipality on Thursday. He has been sent to the District Court Dhanusha for further necessary action.
