Kiran Nepal, president of the SEJON, handed over the amount to Budhathoki on Saturday during a function in Kathmandu. Some other organizations had previously provided the assistance of Rs 176,000 directly to the injured journalist. He underwent spinal treatment at B & B hospital before he remained at Spinal Injury Rehabilitation Center in Kavre for one month. According to SEJON, the Non-resident Nepali Association (NRN) and the government had earlier provided assistance of Rs 410,000 and Rs 300,000 respectively to him.
Standard Chartered Bank, Nimbus Group, Chaudhary Group, Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industries, Global Bank, Khetan Group, and SEJON, among other organizations also contributed financial support to him.
NRN Spokesperson Jugal Bhurtel earlier provided a laptop to journalist Budhathoki.
Executive Director of Dhumbarahi Media Pvt. Ltd. Prateek Pradhan, who is also the founder President of SEJON, expressed interest to provide professional as well as financial support to Budhathoki.
Sejon Award, HBL-Sejon Fellowship distributed
