They also plan to hold rallies in all the districts on May 5 and torch rally in district headquarters in Terai and the zonal headquarters of Dhaulagiri and Gandaki zone. Other protests also include general strike.

Muslim leaders warned of strong protests if the major political parties did not include their demands in first draft of the new constitution.

Secretary of the Muslim alliance Rahamtullah Miyan said the second phase of protests would be more stringent than that of first phase which concluded on Friday.

The alliance has demanded the Muslim community be listed as having a distinct identity and has asked for the formation of a constitutional Muslim commission to address their needs.

It has also demanded a mixed electoral system under the new constitution and equal treatment for the Muslim community based on secularism and affirmative action as with all other groups entitled to such privileges and reservations.
