First round bout of under different weight categories concluded on the opening day. Suresh Budha Magar of Boshigaun defeated Prakash Bhattarai of Nawalparashi in the men´s 48 kg weight category to book the berth in second round.
Likewise, Raj Kumar Maharjan beat Min Tamang while Laxman Tamang defeated Shankar Khadka in the first two bouts of men´s 51 Kg. Babulal Hemram,Rajan Balami, Sanjaya Karki, Top Bahadur Bohara also secured their berth in the second round of the same weight grouping.
Similarly, Suman Lama defeated Tika Ram Kumal on the retirement basis in the first bout of men´s 54 Kg weight class while Krishna Rai defeated Dhiraj Kumar GM as referee stopped the contest. Three Boxer from Armed Police Force, Puran Rai, Yukesh Nagarkoti and Dhirendra Chanda, all confirmed their places in the second round of men´s 54 kg.
In women´s class of 46 Kg, Nisha Gairi, Ramba BK, Parwati Giri defeated their opponent and booked seats for the second round. Meanwhile, Maya Chaudhary, Sapana Thapa and Rupa Lama reached the second round of women´s 51 Kg weight category.
Two hundred boxers from 29 districts and different boxing and departmental clubs are taking part in the tournament.
