KATHMANDU, July 14: The second circuit of the 132 KV double circuit Chameliya-Saule-Attariya transmission line has come into operation. The transmission line at Shailyashikhar Municipality running 131 kilometers through Baitadi, Dadeldhura and Doti districts and ending at Godawari Municipality in Kailali district aims to connect with the national transmission line. Electricity is produced from the rivers in Darchula and Bajhang districts.
Constructed by the Chameliya hydropower project with the concessional loan from the Export-Import Bank of Korea, its first circuit operated since 1980. Its second circuit was constructed with the investment of around Rs 600 million from the Government of Nepal.
Modi-Laha Chowk transmission line comes into operation
The second circuit was added after the first circuit did not endure electricity produced from various hydropower projects constructed or under construction in the area, said executive director of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Kulman Ghising.
"The transmission line has opened the door for the construction of hydropower projects in Darchula and Bajhang districts," he said. Various 110 megawatts hydropower projects constructed by the NEA and the private sector have been connected with the transmission line, and additional 50 megawatts projects will be linked soon, it has been said.
