Eyewitnesses said Yadav, 40, of Nahara Rigoul-4 was abducted from near a mango grove in Brahman Gorchhari by a group of over half a dozen persons who were waiting for him. Yadav was returning home from his office in Lahan on his motorcycle (Ba 1 Pa 2730).
“At around 8:30 in the evening, I heard a clank which sounded like a motorcycle tumbling on the road,” said Devsunair Devi Mahato, who was keeping watch on the mango grove. “I saw a crowd of around seven-eight persons drag a man away. I hid inside a thatched hut out of fear and could not see where the group took him,” Mahato added.
The police said Yadav´s motorcycle and identity card were found at the place from where he was abducted. Ganesh Chaudhary, who runs a cyber café in Lahan, saw the motorcycle lying on the road at around 8:45 while he was returning home in Brahman Gorchhari and called the police.
Chief of Siraha Police Rajesh Lal Karna said a search team has been mobilized to rescue Yadav and vigilance along the border has been increased.
SP Karna also said that the police have already initiated investigations into the incident and have taken a few persons under control based on cell phone records. The family has not informed about any ransom call and the police said the abduction may have been done for revenge rather than monetary gain. According to the victim´s family members, Yadav had a dispute with the chief of his office Arvinda Hussain and that they were not on speaking terms.
Human rights activist Jeevan Sah said the abduction spree that had halted for a while after police killed two kidnappers while rescuing Vijay Sah of Balkawa-4 two months ago, is on the rise again.
