KATHMANDU, July 9: At least 20 people remain missing after a devastating flood struck the Lhende Stream along the Nepal-China border on Tuesday. Among the missing are three Nepal Police personnel, six Nepali workers, five drivers and six Chinese nationals.
To support the ongoing search and rescue operations, a team from the Shreenath Battalion of the Nepali Army has been deployed in the Chilime Hydropower and Rongapul areas of Gosaikunda Rural Municipality. So far, the rescue teams have recovered five unidentified bodies and several body parts.
Rasuwa Flood Update: 18 missing, 9 rescued
The flood, which occurred on Tuesday, swept away the Friendship Bridge at the Nepal-China border, along with 24 containers, six trucks, and 35 electric vehicles. The Syabrubesi-Timure road section has also been blocked due to landslides.
Significant damage has been reported at the Rasuwa Customs Office yard and the Rasuwagadhi Hydropower dam. Rescue operations are ongoing at full pace in the affected areas.
