Search continues for missing individual during idol immersion in Rupandehi

LUMBINI, Oct 25: The police have confirmed that efforts are ongoing to locate a person who went missing after a drowning incident in the Danab River on Tuesday during the idol immersion ceremony in Kothi Mai Rural Municipality of Rupandehi.

During the incident, two individuals lost their lives, and one person remains missing. Locals reported that all three individuals, who had traveled from Amargunj to Danab Khola for idol immersion, drowned.

The Rupandehi District Police Office reported that a search operation for Santa Kumar Rajbhar, 20 the missing person, is currently underway. A joint team comprising Nepal Police, Armed Police, and Nepali Army personnel has been deployed to the scene.

The bodies of the two individuals who drowned in the Danab River in Kothi Mai Village-1 were discovered during the search and have been transported to Bhairahawa for post-mortem examination.

The deceased have been identified as Ajay Kumar Nau, 24, and Ajay Rajbhar, 18, both residents of Amargunj. Ajay Kumar Nau was a police constable serving at the district police office in Palpa. Superintendent of Police Bharat Bahadur Bishwakarma, the Chief of District Police Office Rupandehi, revealed that Ajay Kumar Nau drowned in the Danab River while participating in idol immersion on his way home to celebrate Dashain.
