SDBL, Vibor sign an agreement to work together

KATHMANDU (REPUBLICA): Siddhartha Development Bank Ltd (SDBL) inked an agreement on Thursday with Vibor Development Bank to increase the reach of customer services for its SDBL Trust Remit services the thorough out the country. [break]



According to a statement issued by SDBL on Thursday, SDBL clients can now use six of Vibor Bank’s branches. Mahesh Sharma Dhakal, the chief executive officer of SDBL, and Jhalak Prasad Khanal, the chief executive officer of the Vibor, signed the agreement representing their respective banks, SDBL said.



New range of energy-saving products from iEnergy

KATHMANDU (REPUBLICA): Innovative Energy Pvt Ltd (iEnergy), the sole distributor for products of a UK-based Enigin PLC, has started offering different energy-saving products from Enigin in Nepali market. According to a statement from iEnergy, the new products include real-time energy management system -- Eniscope, Intelligent Motor Energy Controller (IMEC), Air Conditioner Energy Saver (ACES), Chiller Unit Energy Saver (CUES) and high-efficiency LED lights and solar street lights. “The application of the range of products will directly contribute to 50 percent energy saving and result in energy efficiency, environmental benefits and financial viability,” the trader said. iEnergy plans to regulate the new products appointing distributors in all five development regions of the country, it said.



Finance secy meets division heads

KATHMANDU (REPUBLICA): The Finance Ministry has directed all executing agencies to start work on developing action plans for the implementation of the plans and programs spelled out in the budget for Fiscal Year 2013/14. According to a statement issued on Thursday, Finance Secretary Shanta Raj Subedi asked the chiefs of different divisions to work at full speed to complete the preparations for the action plans of the respective divisions. “Monitoring and evaluation should be stronger in order to implant the budget effectively,” reads the release as Subedi saying. “Internal Revenue Department also should implement the provisions established in the financial ordinance as soon as possible.”



PROstyle to sponsor Manhunt International Nepal

KATHMANDU (REPUBLICA): PROstyle, Dabur Nepal’s range of grooming products for men, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Group of Event Entertainer (GEE) to sponsor Manhunt International Nepal 2013. Abhaya Parsad Gorkhalee, the marketing head of Dabur Nepal, and GEE Chief Executive Officer Anup Saxena, signed the MoU, according to a statement from GEE. “We are pleased to associate our event with a successful brand like PROstyle,” Saxena said. This edition of the event will be called ‘PROstyle Manhunt International 2013’, he added. He further added that PROstyle was also starting a cash prize of Rs 100,000 to the winner of PROstyle Manhunt International Nepal to encourage young men to participate in such events for their overall personality development. The last date for application submission is July 31 and the grand finale will be held on September 28 at the Army Officers’ Club, Kathmandu, Saxena said. Nepali men between 18 to 30 years and a minimum height of 5’8” are eligible for the contest. According to the company, the winner of the contest will participate in Manhunt International 2013 to be held in China in November.



Nabil Bank supports ICIMOD’s Knowledge Park

KATHMANDU (REPUBLICA): Nabil Bank Ltd and International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) have entered into a three-year partnership to help upgrade facilities at the ICIMOD Knowledge Park in Godavari, the bank said in a statement Thursday. Knowledge Park is a repository of biodiversity resources and a venue for testing sustainable technologies and farming practices, it added. According to the statement, Nabil Bank CEO Anil Gyawali handed over a cheque for Rs 1.3 million to ICIMOD Director General David Molden on Thursday. “The private sector is an important development partner for improving the lives of people living in the mountains,” Molden was quoted as saying, adding that the private sectors had a critical role to play in protecting invaluable resources and biodiversity of the region. According to the statement, Knowledge Park attracts over 5,000 visitors annually through activities carried out in the areas of renewable energy; water, vegetation, and soil management; livestock and aquaculture among others. With this new venture, Nabil Bank is now a Gold Partner to the ICIMOD Knowledge Park at Godavari, the bank said.
