Scores injured in clash between police and locals in Jumla

JUMLA, April 25: Score of people have been injured during a clash between the locals and the police at Bayalkatiya-9, Chandannath Municipality of the district.


The clash took place when the locals reached the chief District Office demanding to solve the forest related dispute. They accused the local administration for not facilitating the environment to solve the problem. Most of the injured are the women of the village.

They have been rushed to the Karnali Institute Health and Science Teaching Hospital, Jumla. Meanwhile, the police have taken Surendra Giri into custody. After the incident, the locals have demanded the action against the authorities who ordered and the security personnel who used the baton to the locals who were in peaceful protest.


Meanwhile, the Chief District Officer Narayan Prasad Sapkota said that the locals hit the police with the placards that led to the brawl. He claimed that four security personnel are injured and are receiving treatment. The situation is tense in the area following the incident.
