Five RPP Nepal activists including chairman of the Kashi district, four YCL cadres and six policemen sustained injuries during the scuffle.
YCL attacked RPP Nepal activists with sticks and rods while they were collecting signature demanding democracy at Chipledunga.
Those injured include Devi Jung Gurung, Lal Bahadur Malla, Ram Bahadur Tamang, Amir Mia and Dandi Raj Acharya from RPP Nepal. They are receiving treatment at Model Hospital, New Road. Among those, district chairman Gurung is severely injured.
Suman Devkota, YCL’s district chairman, Bhoj Raj Acharya, Sanam Baniya and Lokendra BK were also injured, according to YCL Kaski. They are receiving treatment at Abhiyan Community Hospital, Prithvichowk.
“We were collecting signatures when a group of 30 to 35 YCL cadres attacked us with sticks and rods,” Hari Prasad Adhikari said. “They started attacking without saying anything.”
YCL accused police of attacking them while shouting slogans against RPP Nepal. “We were shouting slogans against them since their advocacy for monarchy is against interim constitution when all of a sudden police attached us,” Devkota said.
Police meanwhile said that they used ‘little force’ after YCL intervened the program and tried to attack police pelting stones.
“We repeatedly requested them not to intervene other’s program, but they turned against us,” Chief of Kaski police Superintendent of Police Subash Chaudhary said. “Six policemen sustained minor injuries in the scuffle.”
