GORKHA, June 4: Students have padlocked Jal Kanya Secondary School at Aruarbang in Gorkha district alleging teachers of being irresponsible towards their duty.

"Most of the teachers are absent. so we padlocked the school. Some of them have gone to their homes and others to the district headquarters and some others to collect yarcha gumba," said a student Prakirti Regmi.

Teacher Nanda Lal Bhatta accepts the fact and said that teachers seem to be forgetting their duties and prioritizing their private affairs ignoring students´ right to study.

Most of the schools in north Gorkha have been closed citing distant geographical situation where it is cold most of the time, lack of course books and absence of teachers and even students´ reason for they go to collect yarcha gumba in this season.

Except these reasons students for primary level have becomes less, as they could not understand Nepali language. Nepali language is the only medium of teaching in the district which is home to various ethnic groups.
