KATHMANDU, Jan 3: The CPN-UML has claimed that the Supreme Court (SC)’s ruling has proved its stand that the constitution amendment bill was unconstitutional.

A Standing Committee meeting of the main opposition party concluded that the ruling by the apex court proved UML’s stand and the constitutional provision that provincial boundaries can’t be altered without approval from federal assemblies.

According to UML Secretary Yogesh Bhattarai, the meeting decided to draw the government’s attention to withdraw the constitution amendment bill taking the court’s ruling into account.

Bhattarai added that the leaders agreed to chalk out future strategies in the changed political context after holding discussion with nine political parties protesting against the constitution amendment bill.

The meeting has also appealed to all to participate in the protest assembly to be held in Kathmandu on Friday.
