KATHMANDU, Nov 21: The Supreme Court (SC) has issued a show cause order regarding the government's decision to ban social networking site TikTok.
A single bench of Justice Binod Sharma held a preliminary hearing on the case on Tuesday and demanded the reason for the ban from the government.
A total of 10 writ petitions have been registered in the SC arguing that the government’s decision to ban TikTok has violated the fundamental rights of the citizens. Although the writ petitioners requested to issue an interim order to overturn the ban, the SC did not grant it. The SC has ordered a written reply within 15 days from the government.
