KATHMANDU, July 11: The Supreme Court (SC) on Monday issued a show cause notice against Chief Commissioner at the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), Lokman Singh Karki on a contempt of court case.

A single bench of Justice Govinda Kumar Upadhyay ordered the CIAA Chief to be present before the court within three days with a written reply on why shouldn’t the court take action against him.

The court was responding to a contempt of court case filed by the wife of journalist Kanak Mani Dixit, Shanta Dixit.

Shanta had moved SC arguing the anti-graft body didn’t obey the court’s earlier order to carry out investigation against the culprit secretly and summon for investigation only after collecting concrete proofs.

She had claimed that CIAA had arrested Dixit over personal enmity.
