KATHMANDU, March 3: The Supreme Court (SC) on Sunday has issued an interim order in the name of the National Information Commission, directing it not to initiate a process on a case related to information sought from Inspector General Police (IGP) Kuber Singh Rana about the recent promotion of Deputy Inspectors General (DIG)s in the Nepal Police until March 11.

A single bench of Justice Girishchandra Lal issued an order to that end. The bench also decided to summon the both sides to hold discussions to decide on the same day whether the interim order would be continued.[break]

IGP Rana, on February 20, had filed a writ at the Supreme Court, demanding that a letter of action sent by the Commission to him for not providing the copies of secret files related to the DIG promotion be scrapped.
